Sandwiched part-way between both Durham and Raleigh, this busy airport provides its passengers with more than enough ground transport, meaning that wherever you are headed within the Research Triangle metropolitan region, you can choose between buses, shuttles, car hire, limos, taxi cabs and even a nearby Amtrak train service.
Ground transportation at Raleigh Durham International Airport connects not only these two cities, but also suburbs such as, Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Clayton, Garner, Hillsborough, Holly Springs, Knightdale and Morrisville, amongst other onward destinations.

Raleigh Durham Airport is served by regular intercity buses, operated by Greyhound buses. There are Greyhound bus stations situated in both Raleigh and Durham.
An additional service is provided by Triangle Transit, with route 100 and route 105 both connecting Raleigh University and downtown Raleigh, where connections to Cary, Chapel Hill and Durham await travelers. Triangle Transit run every hour or more from Monday to Friday (06:30 to 22:30) and on Saturday between the hours of 07:10 and 19:10.
Terminal shuttles, operated by the RDU Airport Authority, are also on hand to transport passengers between the terminals and also to the outlying Park and Ride lots. Hotel shuttles are available for many chains, and so reaching your accommodation may simply be a phone call away to organize your courtesy shuttle bus.
The RDU Airport Taxi Service manages the taxi cabs operating at RDU Airport, with meters being used to calculate fares to destinations within Durham, Orange and Wake counties. Of note, the journey into central Raleigh will take around 25 to 30 minutes. Surcharges will be applied for drop-offs and excess luggage (usually more than three items per person). - New Hill
- Wake Forest

Raleigh has a popular Amtrak train station and this is one of the most frequented Amtrak railway stations in the southeast of America. Amtrak is America's only express train and serves destinations nationwide. The recently renovated Amtrak railway station is situated in downtown Raleigh and offers direct travel to over 50 cities.
